PhD student position – Musculoskeletal biomechanics and imaging -Boston University
The Movement & Applied Imaging Lab within the Department of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training at Boston University has an opening for a full-time doctoral student starting in 2017. The student will contribute to research to investigate mechanisms underlying osteoarthritis and development of innovative rehabilitation interventions.
The student will enroll in the Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Sciences program at the Sargent College, Boston University. This position is fully funded and includes a stipend, and costs of tuition and fees. The Ph.D. program offers outstanding opportunities for a motivated candidate to build an inter-disciplinary skill set that will position them to embark upon a successful research career.
January 15, 2017 is the deadline to apply to the PhD program.
The lab is equipped with a 3-D motion capture system, multiple force platforms, wireless EMG system, IMU devices, and a strength testing dynamometer for the study of biomechanics. Additionally, the lab also offers opportunities to develop hands-on skills with mobile health technologies, musculoskeletal MR imaging, and clinical trials.

Athletic Training Graduate Assistantship in Public Safety
The Doctoral Program (PhD) in Education with a specialization in Exercise, Fitness, and Health Promotion (EFHP) is seeking a highly qualified individual that wants to attain their terminal degree at Virginia’s largest public research university.
This graduate assistantship position is an exciting component of a highly unique partnership between Prince William County Fire and Rescue services and George Mason University Sports Medicine Assessment, Research and Testing (SMART) Laboratory. The Prince William Fire and Rescue Service is comprised of nearly 600 uniformed and civilian members working to provide high quality and efficient firefighting and emergency medical services. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide clinical services and engage in research aiming to reduce injuries and enhance performance of firefighters.
Responsibilities include ergonomic analysis, injury prevention and strength and conditioning program development, rehabilitation of work related injuries, and wellness education. The athletic trainer will work in collaboration with physicians, fire and rescue peer fitness trainers and other public safety personnel.
We are seeking an intelligent, motivated, and enthusiastic professional with the capacity to combine a curiosity for research with a passion for serving members of the public safety community.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field
- Proof of current BOC certification is required by the start date
- Nationally recognized certification for Strength & Conditioning (e.g., CSCS) required or ability to attain the certification within 6 months of hiring is highly preferred
- Virginia Athletic Training Licensure (or eligible to be licensed before start date)
- Ability to work week nights and weekends and travel as needed

· Renewal is dependent on performance evaluation and funding availability
